Excellent museum that has so much history and art that you really have to see it. Even if you're not an art lover, do more than just see the Mona Lisa (La Joconde) and the Venus de Milo!
Another must see is the Coronation of Napoleon I--that's in the same pavilion as the Mona Lisa, and also draws a crowd. My actual favorite part is found in the Sully Pavilion that shows how the Louvre was built, essentially the foundations of the medieval fortress.

Bought skip the line audio guided tour. Well worth it and the audio guide gives a snapshot of the art on view but with very helpful and interesting information.

We visited on a Saturday and it may have been luck that we got there early (not before opening, just slightly after) and there was no line (although we had a Paris Pass anyway)..this also meant less crowds! Do your research though because there are dif options for getting tickets. We carded about 2-3 hours but we could've spent days in there!
