We were on a two hour small group tour of the Louvre. It was very interesting. Unfortunately, we went in mid August and it was very hot that day. As you would expect it was crowded with tourists. There were many beautiful paintings and sculptures. I was surprised at how small the Mona Lisa was. Sadly, it was hard to really get a good look because of the crowds. It is one of those things you need to see if you go to Paris. We recommend arranging a small group or individual tour with pre-purchased tickets to save some time.
This museum contains lots and lots of fantastic art Well worth visiting. Unfortunately it’s also very crowded so allow plenty of time for waiting. There are also a lot of stairs. There are few elevators and these are in constant use. But the art makes up for all that.
We made this our top priority in Paris, and went on our first day. It did not disappoint. It has amazing works of art. It is a super large museum, so a talented tour guide is very helpful to find your way around to the top sights.
